Pact Group has donated around 3,000 rigid plastic crates to food rescue organisation, OzHarvest, for the storage and transportation of food stuffs. The crates will be used to store excess food collected from commercial outlets and delivered to 600 charities providing much needed assistance to vulnerable men, women and children across Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, the Gold Coast, Newcastle and Perth.
To date OzHarvest has delivered more than 30 million meals to men, women and children in need and saved more than 10 million kilos of food from landfill, making a significant positive impact to the community socially and environmentally.
Ronni Kahn, CEO & Founder of OzHarvest said, “OzHarvest rescues 280 tonnes on average of surplus food per week. These crates play a vital role in our daily operations and allows our drivers and volunteers to deliver quality nutritious food to people in need.
We thank the Pact Group for believing in what we do and for the generous donation of crates. It’s through their support that we can continue to deliver goodness and nourish our country.”
According to Pact Group CEO, Mr Brian Cridland, “Pact is pleased to be able to support the efforts of OzHarvest and their significant contribution to the community with the provision of our reusable plastic crates.”
Made from recycled propylene, the reusable plastic crates have a lifespan of around 7-years making them sustainable for long-term use. The structure and design of the crate also makes it easier for the OzHarvest team to carry and stack these while preserving the integrity of the contents as these are transported via van to their destinations.
OzHarvest is the only food rescue organisation in Australia collecting surplus food from all types of food providers including fruit and vegetable markets, supermarkets, hotels, wholesalers, farmers, restaurants, and corporate events.
